This is my very first completed painting of this series and I am super happy with the way it turned out!! I spent about a year developing this style with a lot of duds honestly, but those duds helped me get to this :)

I have always been inspired by portraits and almost everywhere I look at art, it's always been portraits that catch my eye. Vintage or modern, it doesn't really matter...portraits always get me! So, I set out with portraits on my mind but I really had no idea where I was going with it. I started with some model women to get me started and I was happy with the start but the backgrounds were too boring for me. So, I started messing with florals on the background, which reminded me of like a wallpaper pattern so it took off from there. I researched some patterns and tried to match a pattern I like with the woman and here we are :)

The extra key was to bring part of the color from the background onto the woman. The green highlights on the woman just came out really well and it kind of married the two aspects of the painting a little better.

Even though I didn't exactly know how this painting was going to turn out, I kind of think this worked out perfectly with my style in general, which is kind of a combo of vintage + modern.....vintage with the wallpaper style and modern with the portraiture.
